Just as the three young Founders decided in 1873, Delta Gammas strive to "Do Good." While the motto remains the same today, the Founders could never have envisioned how much good those two little words would inspire. As an extension of the Fraternity, the Delta Gamma Foundation was incorporated in 1951 and exists solely for all members to work together to "Do Good" through this philanthropic, non-profit organization.
Join us in our efforts to support the Delta Gamma Foundation at a local and national level. There are many ways you can help.
Each year our vision screening team works with local elementary schools to provide vision screening services to their students. If you are interested in joining our team, contact our V.P. Foundation.
Every year the Austin alumnae sponsor a $1,000 scholarship to a DG collegian from Austin. This scholarship is made possible through our fundraising events and dues paid by our membership.
We have several fundraising events that enable us to fund our scholarship and make financial contributions to Guide Dogs of Texas and to the Delta Gamma Foundation. We typically hold two fundraisers per year.
This year, to raise money to fund the $1,000 Austin Alumnae Chapter Scholarship, we are selling reusable shopping bags made from recycled water bottles. Show your DG pride with a cute pink or blue bag that says Delta Gamma: Do Good, Go Green. Buy a few extra because these make perfect gift bags, too! Bags are $5 each and can be purchased at any Delta Gamma event.
In the fall, we sell specialty coffee from The Unseen Bean. All proceeds from this sale directly benefit Guide Dogs of Texas.
Link your Randall's Remarkable Card to # 5255. A percentage of your purchases will be sent to our Foundation account.
The Campbell's Labels for Education and General Mills Box Tops for Educaton programs are successful Service for Sight projects. The labels and box tops are collected by our chapter to support the Texas School for the Blind and Delta Gamma Centers for the Visually Impaired in Kansas City and St. Louis. By simply clipping these labels, you can bring much needed equipment to children who are blind or visually impaired.
Print this handy list of eligible products (PDF) to keep in your kitchen. Please bring labels and boxtops to any chapter event to give to our Labels & Boxtops for Education Chair.
For Campbell's products, you no longer need to clip the whole label, only the 1 point or 5 point UPC codes. This is a new procedure. Please do not staple UPCs together or put any tape on them.
Are you doing work or volunteering on your own with those who are blind or visually impaired? Are you giving time to the elderly on your own? If the answer is yes to either, you are doing service hours for the Foundation! Report your hours by emailing them to our V.P. Foundation to receive credit for them with the Austin Alumnae Chapter as well as the Foundation. Thanks for all you do!
