Senior Sendoff- May 2, 2010
In May, members of the Austin and San Antonio Alumnae Chapters welcomed seniors from the Beta Eta (University of Texas) and Zeta Eta (Texas State University) chapters into the alumnae world with a fajita dinner in Deb Yurco's gorgeous backyard. Seniors shared their post-graduation plans over ice cream sundaes. Alums encouraged graduates to seek out an alumnae chapter wherever they go because the bonds of Delta Gamma sisterhood are for a lifetime!

Austin Delta Gamma Founders Day- April 11, 2010
Delta Gamma alumnae and collegians celebrated Founders Day at the Texas Union on the University of Texas campus. We were delighted to have Amy Flores (pictured in red in the top left photo), a visually impaired high school student at Texas School for the Blind, share her story with us. We also recognized our 50 and 60 year members, as well as past and present Fraternity leaders.

Jaclyn Jacobson was presented with the Stellar Alumna Award and Carol Morter received the Outstanding Alumna Award. The prestigious Cable Award is given by EO to recognize an alumna for personal devotion, loyalty and continued service to the Fraternity, far beyond normal participation. We were thrilled to surprise Lisa Bost (pictured center) with this award for her ongoing dedication to Delta Gamma!

Jaime Sutton and collegian Anne Freer worked hard to make the day a success and we know our Founders would be proud of Beta Eta and the Austin Alumnae Chapter!

Delta Gamma "Love Yourself" Event- February 18, 2010
Fashion consultant (and DG!) Miranda Darr opened her gorgeous showroom to us in February and shared wardrobe tips to flatter every body type. We got a sneak peak at the trends and color palettes for spring, although Miranda warned us not to jump on every fashion bandwagon just because its the latest thing. She encouraged us to embrace our body (the one we have NOW!) and only buy clothes that fit, flatter and function well. Above all, we were inspired to be the best version of ourselves. Isn't that what Delta Gamma is all about?!

Delta Gamma Holiday Tea- December 6, 2009
Austin DGs and our legacies gathered at the home of Shawn Goodnight in early December to enjoy an annual tradition...the Delta Gamma Holiday Tea. It was a festive afternoon of mingling and munching. A spirited ornament exchange took place and everyone took home something new for the tree! In addition, each legacy was presented with a commemorative silver anchor to add to their growing collection of Delta Gamma ornaments from each Holiday Tea they have attended.

Delta Gamma Thanksgiving Recipe Exchange- November 19, 2009
The Beta Eta collegians opened their doors to us in November for a Thanksgiving recipe exchange. We enjoyed sampling a wide variety of recipes while sharing stories about our favorite Turkey Day foods and traditions. We have many things to be thankful for this year, and continue to count our Delta Gamma sisters among our greatest blessings.

Delta Gamma Trick-or-Treating- October 25, 2009
Delta Gamma collegians hosted the annual Moms & Tots Halloween party at the Beta Eta chapter house in October. Goblins of all ages gathered for games and goodies. Even the parents had fun trick-or-treating!

"This or That" Fall Kickoff Event, September 10, 2009
On a rainy September evening, alumnae gathered at Mary Tanguy's home to kickoff the beginning of fall. Members exchanged stories of summer vacations, shared appetizers and enjoyed catching up with their Delta Gamma sisters. The highlight of the evening was the drawing for a massage from Healing Therapies, won by Deidre Vedder. Everyone left excited about all the coming year has in store!

Delta Gamma Senior Sendoff- April 19, 2009
In April, the Austin Alumnae Chapter welcomed seniors from the Beta Eta (University of Texas) and Zeta Eta (Texas State University) chapters into the alumnae world with a fajita dinner and senior sendoff ritual. Deb Yurco hosted the event at her beautiful home. We are so proud of our graduating Delta Gammas and wish them all best!

Delta Gamma Founders Day- March 7, 2009
Alumnae, collegians and legacies celebrated Founders Day with brunch at the Beta Eta house. We were delighted to have special guests from Guide Dogs of Texas join us for a presentation on their puppy raising and guide dog training programs. The highlight was meeting Audio, a guide dog trained through the program, and her owner Harry who live right here in Austin! Inspired by their story, we raised $176 for Guide Dogs of Texas by raffling the handpainted dog bowl centerpieces. Kyle Grant and collegian Sarah Olson worked hard to make the day a success and we know our Founders would be proud of Beta Eta and the Austin Alumnae Chapter!

Holiday Tea, December 7, 2008
Every December our alumnae chapter hosts a Holiday Tea and honors our legacies as special guests. This year Brooke Winfrey opened her home for an afternoon of cookies, tea and socializing. Keeping with tradition, each legacy took home a DG Christmas ornament. The annual event is a memorable way to begin the holiday season.

Beta Eta Lectureship in Values in Ethics, November 2008
In November, Beta Eta collegians hosted the Delta Gamma Lectureship in Values and Ethics. This year's speaker was Paul Rusesabagina, Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient and inspiration for the film Hotel Rwanda. Following the lecture in the Texas Union Ballroom, Delta Gammas hosted a reception honoring Mr. Rusesabagina at the Beta Eta House. Since 2002, the Lectureship has brought notable speakers to the University of Texas campus to discuss values and ethics.

The Unseen Bean Foundation Fundraiser, October 2008
In October, alumnae gathered at the home of Betty Bennie for a Foundation fundraiser benefitting Guide Dogs of Texas. Members enjoyed socializing while sampling Delta Gamma-inspired coffee roasted by The Unseen Bean.

Oh, and there may have been a little dessert too...

This or That Fall Kickoff Event, September 2008 The Austin Alumnae Chapter celebrated the beginning of its 2008-2009 calendar with a fall kickoff event in September at Emma Garrett's home. While catching up with one another, DGs nibbled on a little of "this" and some of "that". There was even a game of Delta Gamma trivia and prizes for the participants! The evening was a fun preview of the year to come.
